Bears interview one of their own, Chiefs' director for GM opening

Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery interviewed for the Chicago Bears' general manager job Friday, one day after the Bears' director of player personnel Tim Ruskell interviewed for the position.

Emery served as an area scout with the Bears from 1998 to 2004 and was Atlanta's director of college scouting from 2004 to 2008 before working as a regional scout for the Falcons leading up to the 2009 draft. He has spent the past three years in his current role.

The Bears are looking to replace Jerry Angelo, who was fired after the team finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five years. Ruskell served as the Seattle Seahawks' general manager from 2005 to 2009 before being hired by Chicago in April 2010.

The Bears also interviewed New England Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht, San Diego Chargers player personnel director Jimmy Raye and New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross this week.
