Vikings plan to interview Colts assistant Williams for DC job

The Minnesota Vikings requested permission to interview Indianapolis Colts defensive backs coach Alan Williams for their defensive coordinator vacancy, a league source said Monday.

The interview is expected to take place Tuesday morning.

Williams, who has coached in Indianapolis for 10 seasons, served with Vikings coach Leslie Frazier on the Colts' coaching staff from 2003 to 2004.

The Vikingsreportedly stripped Fred Pagac of his defensive coordinator title last Friday. But even before that move, the Vikings had spoken with several candidates for the position.

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mel Tucker talked with the Vikings but elected to stay in his current position. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Raheem Morrisspoke with the Vikings but instead joined the Washington Redskins as defensive backs coach.
