The St. Louis Rams continue  to examine their contingency options as they wait on a final decision from Jeff Fisher.
Sources close to Fisher have told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi the ex-Titans coach is close to making that decision, and it appears he will choose the Miami Dolphins.
That would put the Rams right back where they started, conducting dual searches for a head coach as well as a general manager.Â
The Rams have received permission to interview Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski for the vacant head-coaching position, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the process is supposed to remain confidential.
Fox NFL insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reported Wednesday the Ramshave received permission to interviewNew Orleans Saints offensive line/running game coach Aaron Kromer.Â
Outside of Fisher, the Rams have interviewed Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton and are scheduled to interview first-year Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen this week, a league source told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday the Rams asked for permission to interview Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, but he later decided to stay in Cincinnati for another season.
Chudzinski interviewed for the Jaguars' head-coaching job but lost out to Mike Mularkey. Under Chudzinski, the Panthers finished seventh in the NFL on offense while setting a new franchise record for total yards in a season despite starting rookie quarterback Cam Newton.
The Rams have confirmed that they have met with three candidates in their search for a general manager: Titans vice president of football operations Lake Dawson, Atlanta Falcons director of player personnel Les Snead and Philadelphia Eagles director of player personnel Ryan Grigson, who was hired Wednesday by the Indianapolis Colts.
