The Kansas City Chiefs' search for a new coach has begun, with the team scheduled to interview Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin on Wednesday, according to a league source.
As the Packers' offensive coordinator since 2007, Philbin has led Green Bay to a top-10 ranking in total yards and scoring each season -- only the New England Patriots can boast the same. This season, Green Bay led the NFL in points scored (560) and ranked third in total yardage (6,482) and passing yardage (4,924). Philbin originally joined the Packers in 2003 as an offensive line coach.
The Chiefs will give consideration to removing the interim tag from Romeo Crennel, who went 2-1 following Todd Haley's firing. Crennel's victories were notable, coming against the then-undefeated Packers in overtime, and the Denver Broncos, winners of the AFC West.
