Nice try, Rick Perry, but you're no Tim Tebow.
In the final Republican debate Thursday night before the Iowa caucuses, Perry, a candidate for the GOP presidential nomination drew a parallel between the rise of the Broncos quarterback and his own political star.
"You know, there are a lot of people out there -- I understand it -- there are a lot of folks that said Tim Tebow wasn't going to be a very good NFL quarterback," the Texas governor said, via The Huffington Post.
"There are people that stood up and said, 'Well, he doesnât have the right throwing mechanisms, or he doesnât -- you know, he's not playing the game right.' You know, he won two national championships, and that looked pretty good. Weâre the national champions in job creation back in Texas. But am I ready for the next level?
"Let me tell you -- I hope I am the Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses."
The Denver Post reported that Broncos officials have been flooded with requests for Tebow's opinion on the political landscape, but the team has denied every one, in a solid effort to give their quarterback some peace.
