Take a knee, and a day off: Students suspended for Tebowing

There's Tim Tebow-related trouble out on the North Fork of Long Island.

Connor Carroll, a senior at Riverhead High, told Prep Rally and Yahoo! Sports that he and three other male students received a one-day suspension Wednesday for Tebowing -- the act of taking a silent knee in prayer as the Broncos quarterback is known to do.

"We've been doing it all week," Tyler Carroll, Connor's brother, told The Suffolk Times. "We started on Monday. We saw Tebow doing it and thought it would be funny. More people saw and started to join in. It was really catching fire."

That is, until Riverhead's version of Mr. Belding hit the scene and put an end to the merriment.

While nearly 40 students took part in the Tebowing session, according to Prep Rally, only four students were suspended: Connor and Tyler, Wayne Drexel and Jordan Fulcoly, all athletes.

"The administration told us that our Tebowing was blocking the halls and could potentially cause a riot, because they were growing in number and if the wrong kid gets pushed a brawl could ensue," said Connor, who insisted there was plenty of room to pass by.

The Times provided video of the incident. Yes, they're causing a bit of a scene, but a riot? Much more troubling was the growing, zombie-like roar of: "Tebow! Tebow! Tebow!"

Next up: The iron-fisted despots over at Riverhead High will deal with this overly serious house cat, caught Tebowing in a distant basement -- the adults will not have it!

Thanks, Yahoo! Sports
