ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Rookie linebacker Von Miller practiced Wednesday with a cast covering the injured right thumb that sidelined him in last weekend's victory over the Minnesota Vikings, but he said he hopes to return Sunday when the Denver Broncos host the Chicago Bears.

Miller, who leads NFL rookies with 10.5 sacks this season, returned to practice eight days after needing surgery to repair ligaments he tore in the thumb during a Nov. 27 game at San Diego.

Running back Willis McGahee (knee), wide receiver Eddie Royal (concussion) and left tackle Ryan Clady (knee) all were held out of practice Wednesday. Royal was injured against the Vikings in a collision with a teammate during a punt return, and Clady aggravated a knee problem late in the game.

McGahee, who was injured late in the fourth quarter at Minnesota, said after Wednesday's practice that he expects to play Sunday.
