No comeback: Favre harbors 'no plans to play football' again

Brett Favre isn't planning a comeback.

The 42-year-old retired quarterback denied an ESPN report that he would be open to a return with the Chicago Bears.

"Inspite of reports about playing with various teams, I'm enjoying retirement with my family and have no plans to play football," Favre said Tuesday night in a statement posted on his official website.

"I haven't contacted nor have been contacted by any teams and all reports are inaccurate."

The news doesn't come as a surprise. Even ESPN cited a high-ranking Bears source Tuesday in reporting the team wasn't interested in bringing Favre out of retirement.

Bears coach Lovie Smith told reporters this week the team will stick with quarterback Caleb Hanie amid dimming hopes that Jay Cutler can return from a broken thumb. The Bears also have quarterbacks Josh McCown and Nathan Enderle on the roster.
