As far as Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is concerned, Dez Bryant shouldn't return punts anymore. It's too risky.
That the injury-prone receiver returned two punts during Sunday's 23-13 victory over the Seahawks naturally made Jones feel uneasy.
"I'm still concerned when we had him back there about his injury, especially now that Miles may be, or may not be, out a couple of games," Jones said, according to Fox Sports Southwest. "I don't know."
For the record, the Cowboys are, in fact, facing several weeks without receiver Miles Austin because of a hamstring injury, per NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora. That only increases Bryant's value to Dallas' offense, not to mention Jones' stance on the receiver's role.
Look, Jones already has publicly questioned coach Jason Garrett for his decisions once this season and later regretted it, so we wouldn't expect him to go that route again. But when Jones starts talking about his dislike of Bryant returning punts, it's a safe bet that he'd like Garrett to heed his words.
