It's hard enough to play the Green Bay Packers with a roster at full strength, but the San Diego Chargers might be in danger of facing the NFL's only undefeated team without at least one of its top playmakers.
Running back Ryan Mathews and tight end Antonio Gates missed their second straight practice Thursday. Gates' day off likely can be attributed to a simple matter of rest, the San Diego Union Tribuine reported Gates has not practiced three straight days since he's returned from his early season foot injury.
Meanwhile, Mathews' status for Sunday's game is a serious question mark.
Mathews injured his hamstring during the Chargers' overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and was replaced in the lineup by second-year pro Curtis Brinkley. Brinkley also did not practice Thursday, but Mike Tolbert (hamstring) was out on the field for a second straight day.
