Week 9: Super Bowl XLV combatants now 1-2 in latest rankings

The Pittsburgh Steelers' 25-17 victory over the New England Patriots and the St. Louis Rams' 31-21 stunner over the New Orleans Saints bumped down two teams that had figured in the top 3 in most of our polls, lifting the Steelers to No. 2 for their highest ranking of the season. Once again all nine of our experts voted the Green Bay Packers No. 1.

Other notable developments from Week 8:

» Trending up are the Philadelphia Eagles, who jumped from No. 19 to No. 15 to claim the highest spot by a team with a losing record, and the Cincinnati Bengals, who cracked the top 10 for the first time.

» The surging Kansas City Chiefs, who were near the bottom after their 0-3 start, are now at No. 16 after winning four straight, while the San Diego Chargers, who let two games get away from them in the last two weeks, dropped from No. 10 all the way down to No. 17.

» The St. Louis Rams' upset of New Orleans not only knocked the Saints from the Top 5, it lifted the Rams out of the bottom three, where they were replaced by the Arizona Cardinals, losers of six straight.
