Cowher comes clean: 'I do not plan on coaching next year'

CBS Sports analyst Bill Cowher said Sunday that he doesn't plan to return to coaching next year, amid reports that the Miami Dolphins are considering him if they need a replacement for Tony Sparano.

Reports earlier in the week linked Cowher to the winless Dolphins, whose relationship with Sparano continues to unravel. But Cowher, who went 149-90-1 as the Pittsburgh Steelers' coach from 1992 to 2006 and won one Super Bowl title, refuted any interest.

"I do not plan on coaching next year," Bill Cowher said on CBS' "The NFL Today."

"I love where I work, and I enjoy the people I'm working with. I like what I'm doing here, and I plan to be back in the same seat."

Cower said he is flattered by the talk, but any reports he is in line for a coaching job is "all speculation."

Cowher also said he has "not been contacted directly, or indirectly by anyone from the Miami Dolphins" and wanted to put "all the speculation to rest."

A league source told NFL Network's Albert Breer on Friday that associates of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross had been in contact with Cowher's agent.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
