Terrell Owens still plans to play in the NFL this season. And next season, too.

The 37-year-old free-agent receiver told ESPN on Wednesday that he would be ready to play in "a month or less" as he recovers from April surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Watching football on Sundays is a whole new experience with NFL Network's channel, NFL RedZone. Find out why.

Owens, who had 983 receiving yards and nine touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals last season, told the network that he would "be even better next year."

"I'm not gonna waste your time, so I wouldn't expect you to waste my time," Owens said. "When I step on the field, you know what you gonna get."

Owens has 1,078 career receptions for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns. He's second on the NFL's all-time list in receivings yards and tied for second in TDs with Randy Moss.

Owens is scheduled to represent the NFL in a series of events in London before the league's annual overseas game Oct. 23, this time between the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
