The hush that fell over Reliant Stadium on Sunday spoke volumes as star receiver Andre Johnson laid on the turf, grabbing his leg.
Johnson went down untouched, and suddenly, Houston's season was hanging in the balance. Wes Welker blew out his knee on the same field in 2010, and there was concern Johnson did the same.
Luckily for the Texans, it does not appear that Johnson's injury will be a season-wrecker. The team believes the receiver actually suffered a hamstring injury.
"The way he went down was deflating because it was like he just got shot, and that scares the heck out of you," Kubiak said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "It's very difficult. He's the leader of our team and has been the leader of this franchise for a long time."
The next step for the Texans comes Monday, when Johnson undergoes an MRI to determine the extent of the damage.
"If we have to go without him for a period, we're going to have to ask some guys to really step up to the plate," Kubiak said.
