Veteran RB Slaton joins Dolphins after being cut by Texans

Running back Steve Slaton has been awarded to the Miami Dolphins on waivers, according to a league source.

The Houston Texanscut Slaton on Tuesday, ending his tenure with the team after more than three years. He logged only seven carries for 20 yards so far this season.

Slaton made a strong impression as a rookie by running for 1,282 yards in 2008. But fumbling issues -- 10 fumbles combined in the 2008 and 2009 seasons -- relegated Slaton to a back-up.

Undrafted running back Arian Foster emerged last season and second-year back Ben Tate has played well in three games this season, allowing both to pass Slaton on the depth chart.
