Tate, a third-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, was among the Patriots' final roster cuts on Saturday. He played in all 16 games with 10 starts last season and finished with 24 receptions for 432 yards with three touchdowns. Tate also returned 41 kickoffs for 1,057 yards and ranked sixth in the NFL with a 25.8-yard average. That includes two kickoff returns for touchdowns, one a 97-yard score against the Bengals in Week 1.
"Whatever the team wants me to do, Iâm willing to do it,â Tate told Bengals.com after he found out he was coming to Cincinnati. âWeâll see when I get there.â
The Bengals acquired center Mike McGlynn on waivers from Philadelphia. McGlynn, entering his fourth season, started 14 regular-season games for the Eagles at center last season but can also play guard and tackle. The Bengals found out Saturday that starting right guard Bobbie Williams was suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
