Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll isn't ready to make a change at quarterback.
After the Seahawks failed to put up any points during the first half of Saturday's 20-7 preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings behind starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson -- the second consecutive game they've failed to do so -- Carroll said he's not reconsidering his choice of starting Jackson over backup Charlie Whitehurst.
"I'm not in that mindset at all," Carroll said, according to *The* *Seattle Times*. "I love that Charlie played well, and I think we need to give Tarvaris a chance to play well, too, with the guys around him. I felt like he was out there fighting for it, and he did a good job of competing."
Jackson was unimpressive playing mostly against the Vikings' first-team defense, completing 11 of 21 passes for 75 yards in the first half. Whitehurst entered the game during the third quarter and completed his first seven attempts and 10 of 11 throws for 79 yards while directing a 16-play, 89-yard scoring drive that ended with a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Anthony McCoy.
It was Seattle's only scoring drive of the game, although it came against Minnesota backups.
Carroll pointed to the fact the two halves presented two different sets of circumstances for his quarterbacks.
"It's really two different halves, in the way that they were able to play and the guys that were in the game and that kind of stuff," Carroll said. "It was much harder early on. Our matchups weren't there."
