Former Giants DL Cofield reportedly set to sign with Redskins

The Redskins have agreed to a six-year contract with free-agent defensive lineman Barry Cofield, *The Washington Post* said Tuesday, citing multiple reports.

Cofield's contract is worth an average of $6 million per year, with $12.5 million guaranteed, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports.

Cofield, 27, had 54 tackles and four sacks for the NFC East rival New York Giants last season. He is expected to play either nose tackle or defensive end in the Redskins' 3-4 defense.

The Redskins, who also reportedly agreed Tuesday to trade quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Minnesota Vikings, are expected to be aggressive in their pursuit of free agents this offseason.
