RENO, Nev. -- Former NFL quarterback Jim McMahon has been released from a Nevada hospital after he was injured in a crash in a limousine on the way from Lake Tahoe to the airport.

McMahon and his girlfriend, Lori Navon, were injured along with the driver Monday when the limo swerved off U.S. Highway 395 in Pleasant Valley and crashed through a barbed-wire fence into a drainage ditch.

McMahon's agent, Vincent Calo, told the Reno Gazette-Journal on Wednesday that the former Chicago Bears quarterback tore ligaments in his foot and suffered trauma to his head, neck and back. Navon suffered a concussion.

Calo said McMahon and Navon have returned home to Scottsdale, Ariz. McMahon played over the weekend in a celebrity golf tournament at Tahoe.

McMahon, 51, played 15 seasons in the NFL and helped the Chicago Bears win the Super Bowl in the 1985 campaign. He was in Lake Tahoe over the weekend to compete in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
