Inside the 2012 Schedule

The world gets to see if the Chiefs are contenders or pretenders when they play back-to-back road games on Thursday and Monday night in early November against the Chargers and Steelers. The good news is the Chiefs are at home for three straight weeks afterward before closing with three of their final four on the road.

Week 3 at Saints
The Saints' high-powered offense might lose a little sting without Sean Payton on the sidelines, but the threat of defending a Drew Brees-led unit will still challenge Romeo Crennel and his young defense on the road.
Week 4 vs. Chargers
The Chargers relinquished their hold on the AFC West a season ago, but the favorite to win the division in 2012 could be determined in this contest. Crennel has fortified his roster with an impressive collection of young players, but overtaking San Diego will require the youngsters to step up their respective games.
Week 5 vs. Ravens
If the Chiefs are going to challenge the AFC's perennial heavyweights for the conference crown, they will need to win some head-to-head battles, especially in the confines of Arrowhead. The Ravens beat them in a playoff game two seasons ago, so it is time for the Chiefs to display their mettle as serious contenders.
