Report: Panthers execs meet with Giants D-coordinator Fewell

The Carolina Panthers interviewed New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell on Thursday, sources told the Rock Hill Herald.

Panthers executives Marty Hurney and Danny Morrison met with Fewell as the team begins its search to replace John Fox, whose contract wasn't renewed after nine seasons as head coach.

So far, Carolina's search has focused mainly on defensive coordinators. The team has requested interviews with Cleveland's Rob Ryan, San Francisco's Greg Manusky and San Diego's Ron Rivera -- all defensive coordinators.

Fewell, who grew up in Belmont, N.C., also has drawn interest from the Browns, 49ers and Denver Broncos.
