The Denver Broncos will ask for a second-round draft choice from any team that wants to acquire quarterback Kyle Orton, The Denver Post reported Tuesday.

Brief trial boosts Tebow's stock
Tim Tebow's brief stint as the Broncos' starter delivered much-needed experience for the spirited but raw rookie, plenty of film for the next coaching staff to study and lots of optimism for the team and its fans. More ...

The Broncos went 3-10 in games Orton started, despite the fact that the 28-year-old posted some big numbers when healthy. Orton completed 293 of 498 passes (58.8 percent) for 3,653 yards and 20 touchdowns. He threw nine interceptions. Orton's passer rating of 87.5 was 15th in the league.

The Broncos are intent on moving forward with Tim Tebow, who accounted for 11 touchdowns -- six rushing -- while passing for 654 yards and running for 227 more in three games. Denver also has Brady Quinn on the roster.

Although he couldn't throw passes for a while after injuring his ribs Dec. 12 at Arizona, Orton said he doesn't believe he should have been benched for the final three games and said that if he returns to Denver next season, it should be as the starter.

"They're going to make a decision based as an organization on what they want to do," Orton said. "But certainly with my play, I don't feel like I opened the door for anybody."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
