Lions quarterback Shaun Hill told reporters Thursday that a Patriots defender attempted to break his left arm during Detroit's 45-24 loss to New England, according to MLive.com.
Hill said the incident occurred during the second quarter on a third-down quarterback keeper from the Patriots' 2-yard line. Hill ran into the pile for the first down and extended his arm in an attempt to score a touchdown.
"That's why I eventually gave up the ball," Hill told the newspaper. "Somebody was down there (in the pile) literally trying to break my arm, which is already broken. Literally, trying. And, uh, you know, I guess (it) wasn't seen (by officials)."
Hill, who broke the arm against the New York Giants in Week 6, had no problem with the play call.
"I loved the call," he said. "Absolutely loved it. I have no qualms about running that play -- one-armed or whatever. I loved the call."
Hill was 27-of-46 passing for 285 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions against the Patriots.
