Eight players have been issued fines by the NFL this week -- including New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, who each were hit with $20,000 levies.
Scott's fine was for violating the NFL uniform policy, specifically his chin straps remained unsnapped during game play in Sunday's overtime victory at Detroit.
Ochocinco's fine also was for violating the NFL uniform policy -- he wore dominantly gold shoes, which isn't part of the Bengals' color scheme.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian was fined $5,000 for the same violation because he wore yellow shoes. Ochocinco's fine likely is larger because he's a repeat offender.
Other players fined included:
» Indianapolis Colts linebacker Gary Brackett was fined $10,000 for roughing the passer. On a pass play, Brackett was deemed to have unnecessarily struck the Philadelphia Eagles' Michael Vick with his helmet.
» Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Haloti Ngata was fined $10,000 for the same infraction, roughing the passer. He struck Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne with his helmet.
» Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beasonwas fined $10,000 for unnecessary roughness. He struck a defenseless player -- New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston -- in the head and neck area. Beason previously was fined for unnecessary roughness on Sept. 28, 2009.
» Lions linebacker Julian Peterson was fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness. He struck an opponent late and out of bounds during Sunday's loss to the Jets. In addition, Lions guard Stephen Petermanreportedly was fined a total of $10,000 for two chop blocks in the same game.
» New York Giants safety Kenny Phillips was fined $5,000 for a facemask personal foul during a victory at Seattle.
