Lewis: T.J. would fit if Bengals were 'constituted differently'

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis isn't entirely ruling out the prospect of a reunion with wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, according to *The Cincinnati Enquirer*.

"Well, you consider anything. Other than a hole in the head," Lewis told the newspaper Sunday.

Lewis did acknowledge that Houshmandzadeh -- released by the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday -- might not be a natural fit for the Bengals' offense alongside starting wideouts Chad Ochocinco, Terrell Owens and Jordan Shipley.

"If our team were constituted differently, this would be a great spot for him to be back at," Lewis said. "But right now, where we are, I don't know if it would be good for him."

Lewis said he exchanged text messages with Houshmandzadeh on Saturday. Lewis also stated that NFL teams have contacted him to seek an opinion on Houshmandzadeh.

"It's unfortunate that T.J. got released. He's going to get another opportunity. He'll make the most of that opportunity, and I'll be happy for him," Lewis told The Enquirer. "I had people call and contact me as far as T.J., and I gave him a true, honest appraisal and a very honest one. T.J. helped us get where we are today. He's a good, young pro and a good man, and he did a lot of good leading in this building."

Last season, Houshmandzadeh caught 79 passes for 911 yards and three touchdowns with the Seahawks, his fewest receptions since 2005 and his fewest scores since 2002. He still was the Seahawks' No. 1 receiver.

Houshmandzadeh was in the second year of a five-year, $40 million deal that he signed before 2009.

Houshmandzadeh came to Seattle under a different regime, with Jim Mora as coach and Tim Ruskell the general manager. Both Mora and Ruskell were gone after the Seahawks went 5-11 last season -- and now Houshmandzadeh is searching for a new home.

Even with his release, Houshmandzadeh is guaranteed $7 million for the 2010 season.
