Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy has described the knee sprain suffered by reserve running back Quinn Porter as "serious," according to Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Porter injured the knee in Thursday's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. McCarthy provided the update on Porter's condition during a press conference on Sunday.

Porter has been battling Kregg Lumpkin for a place on the Packers' running back depth chart. Porter's injury makes Lumpkin a definitive favorite to win the job.
