Veteran guard Pitts visits Bills, has more meetings this week

Free-agent guard Chester Pitts, a longtime starter for the Houston Texans, will continue to visit teams this week, a source with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Tuesday.

Pitts' itinerary this week includes stops in Pittsburgh, Seattle and Denver, the source said.

The Buffalo Bills hosted Pitts at their facility Monday, according to the team's official Web site.

The Bills are looking for offensive line depth, the Web site noted. Andy Levitre and Eric Wood -- both rookies last season -- are the starting guards, but only Kirk Chambers has notable NFL experience behind them.

Pitts, who's coming back from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, worked out for the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers last Tuesday in Arizona, a source with knowledge of the situation told La Canfora. It marked the first time that Pitts had been able to undergo a full workout since the operation.

Pitts, one of the few in-demand free agents still on the market, has drawn interest from several other teams this offseason, including the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.

The eight-year NFL veteran has spent his entire career with the Texans, starting every game from his rookie season in 2002 through 2008. Pitts played in just two games in 2009 before undergoing the surgery.
