TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona guard Deuce Lutui signed his one-year qualifying offer from the Cardinals on Monday.
Lutui had to sign the offer of about $1.8 million by Tuesday or the Cardinals would have reduced it to about $588,000 -- 110 percent of his 2009 pay.
Lutui has started every game for the past two seasons. He was hoping for a long-term contract but the Cardinals made it clear that was not going to happen.
Lutui, who is entering his fifth season, might have lost his starting job during his absence. The Cardinals signed free agent Alan Faneca and put him at left guard and moved Reggie Wells to Lutui's right guard spot.
Lutui skipped the team's minicamp and voluntary workouts but signed the offer after switching agents.
