Cardinals lock up veteran DB Ware for another season

Unrestricted free-agent defensive back Matt Ware has signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, according to a league source.

Ware has played four of his six NFL seasons with the Cardinals, registering his first career interception last season.

Ware is expected to sign his one-year deal later this week or early next week.

Ware was a third-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles out of UCLA in 2004. The Cardinals claimed Ware after he was released by the Eagles in 2006.

Ware has become a valuable contributor for the Cardinals during his four seasons, but he missed five games in 2009 because of a knee injury.
