The Tennessee Titans have reached out to defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch's agent, The Nashville City Paper reported Thursday.

Tony Agnone told The City Paper that Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt called him Wednesday about a contract extension for Vanden Bosch, who could become an unrestricted free agent March 5. However, Agnone called the talks very preliminary and exploratory.

"Mike called me and we visited," said Agnone, who expects future conversations with the Titans. "It was nice to talk to Mike, and he just wanted to let me know that he likes Kyle very much."

Vanden Bosch, 31, was selected to his third Pro Bowl this past season after recording three sacks and two forced fumbles. He started all 16 games for the Titans after coming off an injury-plagued 2008 season in which he started just 10 games.

The Titans signed veteran guard Eugene Amano to a five-year, $26.25 million contract Wednesday, and NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported that the Titans are interested in re-signing Kevin Mawae as well. However, La Canfora said that if Mawae is looking for more than what aging centers such as the Baltimore Ravens' Matt Birk and the Indianapolis Colts' Jeff Saturday received last year, he'll likely end up hitting the free-agent market.
