Chargers LB Merriman can't play long on injured groin, leaves game

SAN DIEGO -- Chargers outside linebacker Shawne Merriman left Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins because of a groin injury.

Merriman tried to play with the injury, which he sustained one week earlier during a loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but was forced out by early in the third quarter. Merriman didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but did Friday and was listed as questionable on the Chargers' injury report.
