The Arizona Cardinals announced Tuesday that they have signed free-agent tight end Dominique Byrd to a one-year contract.
Byrd, a third-round draft pick out of USC in 2006, played two seasons with the St. Louis Rams, but he was out of football last year. He has appeared in 14 NFL games and caught six passes for 83 yards and one touchdown.
The Cardinals are stacked at tight end, with NFL veterans Leonard Pope, Ben Patrick, Stephen Spach and Anthony Becht already on the roster. Becht signed with Arizona this offseason after being cut by St. Louis.
