Again flush with running backs on their roster, the Denver Broncos announced Thursday that they have waived Selvin Young.
Young started eight games for Denver last season and finished with 729 rushing yards and one touchdown. Young also caught 35 passes for 231 yards, but he was beset by back and groin injuries last season and was one of seven Broncos running backs who ended up on injured reserve.
Young came to Denver in 2007 as an undrafted free agent from the University of Texas. He played in eight games as a rookie, with five starts, and rushed for 303 yards and one touchdown.
The Broncos spent their initial first-round pick, No. 12 overall, in last weekend's draft on Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno. The team also signed Correll Buckhalter, J.J. Arrington and LaMont Jordan in free agency and still has Peyton Hillis and Ryan Torain.
