INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders will miss Sunday night's game in San Diego because of his ailing right knee.
Sanders, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season, has had swelling in his right knee the past two weeks and was inactive for last week's 33-27 win over Houston. Melvin Bullitt, who has a team-high four interceptions this season, is expected to get the start in place of Sanders.
Sanders was listed as questionable during the week.
The Colts said Saturday night that Sanders, who coach Tony Dungy indicated would be a game-time decision, did not make the trip to San Diego.
