Buffalo Bills
2010 record: 4-12 (Fourth in AFC East)

Fearless Forecast

  • Jason La Canfora

Still a long, uphill climb to being respectable and the front office made their share of puzzling moves ... again.
Prediction: 5-11, fourth in AFC East

  • Steve Wyche

Chan Gailey is going to have his team playing hard and they'll show flashes at times, but when it comes to the guts of games, the interior lines could let them down -- although rookie DT Marcell Dareus will show himself well.
Prediction: 6-10, fourth in AFC East

  • Pat Kirwan

Trading Lee Evans didn't help the team's ability to win this year but might be the right thing to do for the long term. The Bills will be a tougher out than people think especially if the offensive line comes around.
Prediction: 6-10, third in AFC East

  • Bucky Brooks

The Bills are vastly improved on both sides of the ball, yet their difficult schedule will prevent them from achieving a record to match their talent.
Prediction: 5-11, fourth in AFC East

  • Elliot Harrison

Buffalo is not awful, but the the offensive line is. While they've addressed the D-line, you still need good line play on both sides of the ball to win in the NFL, period.
Prediction: 5-11, fourth in AFC East

On the hot seat

C.J. Spiller | #28 | RB

Chan Gailey nabbed C.J. Spiller to add some pop to the Bills' offense, but he has only shown flashes of big-play ability since his arrival. He needs to emerge as a difference-maker for Buffalo to find its way out of the division cellar.

3 Pivotal Games
Week 1 at Chiefs
The Bills dropped three overtime heartbreakers last season, including a 13-10 road loss to the Chiefs in Week 8. They return to Arrowhead Stadium in the season opener hoping for different results. Chan Gailey has ties to the Chiefs, having served (briefly) as offensive coordinator under Kansas City coach Todd Haley in 2009 before being fired.
Week 8 vs. Redskins
The Bills will call Toronto home once again when they host the 'Skins at Rogers Centre on the last weekend in October. The Bills haven't had much luck in these specialty home games away from Orchard Park -- they're still looking for their first regular-season victory north of the border.
Week 14 at Chargers
For the Bills, the Dec. 11 matchup with the Chargers will be just another tough road game in a schedule full of them. But for Buffalo outside linebacker Shawne Merriman, the trip to Qualcomm Stadium will be about returning to the city where he became known as one of football's premier pass rushers.
