Bernard Pollard played for Ravens with six broken ribs

Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard played most of the season with six cracked ribs, The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reported Tuesday. He first suffered the injury in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles and eventually missed the last three games of the regular season.

"NFL Replay" will re-air the Baltimore Ravens' 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. ET.

"It's tough dealing with pain," Pollard told The Baltimore Sun. "For us as football players, we know we're going to go through it. At the same time, that's the name of the game. Six of them, yep. Hey, it's up to us to go out there and play, and we did."

Any injury dealing with the ribs is extremely painful. Every movement aggravates them. Playing an entire season with any cracked ribs -- let alone six of them -- is no joke. Pollard didn't talk about the injury during the season in order to keep it hidden from opponents. He finished the regular season with a team-high 98 tackles.
