President Michael Bidwill announced Monday that the team will interviewAndy Reid as they search for a coach to replace Ken Whisenhunt, according to Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic.

Bidwill also confirmed the Cardinalswill interview their own defensive coordinator, Ray Horton, and Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported that Horton is receiving interest from multiple teams.

The Cardinals job would be attractive to someone like Reid for a variety of reasons. With general manager Rod Graves recently fired, there is flexibility for Reid to have a say in how the front office is constructed. (It's possible Reid will seek personnel control.) Bidwill said he's not locked into a set front-office structure. He'll hire a coach first, if that's the best fit, or a GM first, if that's best. In short, Reid could hold the power if he got the job.

(Let's not even start talking about a reunion with Kevin Kolb. Too soon.)

Bidwill also confirmed that in-house personnel man Steve Keim will interview for the Cardinals' GM vacancy. Keim is expected to receive interest elsewhere, according to NFL.com's Albert Breer.

With seven head coach openings around the league, there will be frenzied competition for candidates. The Cardinals are moving quickly. Reid's name on their list shows that Bidwill won't be afraid to be bold.
