Mike Jenkins likely to attend minicamp, but why?

Don't be surprised to see Mike Jenkins when Dallas Cowboys minicamp kicks off on Tuesday.

As NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reported on Rap Sheet, all signs point to the cornerback attending mandatory minicamp despite his sincere wish to wear a helmet without a star on it come September.

Cowboys coach Jason Garretttold reporters last Wednesday that "we anticipate seeing him back here next week." Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick was a bit more definitive: "He will be here."

Of course, the question is what Jenkins' angle is here. If he's gotten over an offseason in which Dallas signed cornerback Brandon Carr then traded up to draft another in Morris Claiborne, so be it. But if he still wants out, Rapoport disagrees with the strategy.

"(If) he wants to be traded, this is the wrong move," he wrote of Jenkins, who is currently rehabbing a shoulder injury and wouldn't be on the field at minicamp. "He shouldn't risk injury (whenever he plays), which would weaken his hand. If he stays away, my view is that it forces the team to listen to him. But we'll see."

The Cowboys continue to maintain Jenkins isn't going anywhere, but Rapoport rightly points out the old Ted DiBiase adage holds true: "Everybody's got a price."
