Patriots trade up for Chandler Jones, Dont'a Hightower

The New England Patriots selected Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones of Syracuse and Alabama linebacker Dont'a Hightower in the first round of the NFL draft.

The defending AFC champions made a trade to move up six spots to get Jones. The Patriots sent the No. 27 pick and their third-rounder, the 93rd overall pick, to the Cincinnati Bengals for the 21st overall pick.

The New England Patriots selected Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones with the No. 21 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft after trading the No. 27 and No. 93 pick (third round) to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Patriots traded up for a second time during the first round of the draft for the No. 25 from the Denver Broncos who received the No. 31 and a fourth round pick (126 overall).
