Jackson insists he wants to return to Eagles next season

In the Philadelphia Eagles' 34-10 win against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, wide receiver DeSean Jackson had the type of game many expected from him this season -- four catches for 86 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown. Afterward, he explained why he did not produce at that level throughout year and apologized for the way he conducted himself.

Jackson apologized for his disappointing production this season and said he wanted to remain with the Eagles despite lingering contract issues.

"It's a business. I wish I could give you an answer saying if I'm going to be here next year or not, but honestly I really don't know, so we'll just see how it plays out," Jackson said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "It's kind of out of my control, out of my power. I hope that I'll be here. These guys on this team and just the fans, it's home."

Jackson entered the year playing out his rookie contract despite making the last two Pro Bowls. The friction between the organization and the wide receiver worsened throughout the season, with Jackson benched one game after missing a team meeting and sidelined late in another for dropping several passes.

With the disappointing season for both the Eagles at a close, Jackson conceded the dispute hindered his play.

"I can admit to certain things affecting me during the season. I just want to apologize," Jackson said. "I probably could have handled it a little bit different, but now sitting here after the season's over I can just say I was able to put it behind me and really just fight for my teammates, fight for my organization."

After Jackson's numbers dipped this season, it's uncertain how he figures into the Eagles' long-term plans. But the wide receiver said he would be open to playing next year under the franchise tag.

"God got a plan, I'm going to roll with it," Jackson said.
