With the sheen of inventing Facebook wearing off, a group of Harvard students have now set out to understand how Tim Tebow keeps winning games.
The Harvard Sports Analysis Collective, a student-run group at the prestigious university, studied the Broncos' first 10 games of the season in an effort to quantify how Denver went 1-4 with Kyle Orton and 4-1 with Tebow. The results were documented in "A Statistical Analysis of the Miracles of Tim Tebow."
According to the study, the offense under Tebow has actually regressed. The defense -- believed to be the major factor behind the victories -- has improved only slightly. It turns out the secret to Tebow's success has been the Broncos' ability to produce tangible results when it counts most.
The HSAC wrote: "Essentially, while Tebow and the rest of the Broncos have not been producing better numbers, they've been producing their best numbers at the right times."
Since math has a way of frowning on miracles, the HSAC believes Tebow and the Broncos are on borrowed time.
"The likelihood of Tim Tebow sustaining his current winning percentage looks rather dire," the group wrote.
The Broncos won again last Sunday against the Chargers -- a game not factored into the study. Tebow has flummoxed football experts for weeks now; we have total confidence he'll also take down a bunch of smart kids in Cambridge.
