Shockey ruled out for Panthers' road tilt with Lions

Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions and will not travel with the team to Detroit due to soreness in his ribs, the team announced.

Shockey was listed as doubtful on Friday's injury report.

In his role as the team's second-string tight end behind Greg Olsen, Shockey has 24 receptions for 311 yards and one touchdown this season.

Linebacker Dan Connor (shoulder) and cornerback Brandon Hogan (knee) are listed as questionable for the Panthers.
