The Houston Texans will have to go another week without their most dangerous receiver, as Andre Johnson will miss Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.
Coach Gary Kubiak announced the team's decision Friday.
"Andre will be out. He will not play again this week," Kubiak said. "He did work out today with the training staff, worked very, very hard, so we're back on the track that we want to be on. But obviously, he's not ready to go yet, so once again we got to have guys step up, and this team's got to continue to rally together and make up for his absence.
With Johnson out, the Texans have just four healthy receivers on their roster. Jacoby Jones has been starting opposite Kevin Walter in Johnson's absence, and the Texans also have Derrick Mason and Bryant Johnson.
This will be the fifth straight game Andre Johnson has missed because of a hamstring injury suffered Oct. 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a minor procedure shortly thereafter to repair his right hamstring.
The decision to sit out another game comes one day after the team expected Johnson to suit up Sunday.
"We kind of had a little setback from our Monday workout," Johnson said. "I have been sore for a couple days. I went out and ran today, so it felt pretty good. Just have to keep working hard and just stay positive. At the same time, even though I was sore for a few days, I still think we're heading in the right direction."
