Uncertainty surrounds Sparano after Dolphins' loss to Giants

Another week, another loss for the winless Dolphins.

Which means another week of questions surrounding embattled coach Tony Sparano, who is easily on the thinnest ice of all head coaches in the NFL.

"I believe in the group in there. Any of that other stuff is not relevant," Sparano said following Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Giants. "I'm gonna go back to work tomorrow just like I always do, and I'm gonna get ready to play the Kansas City Chiefs."

For the second straight week, the Dolphins blew a double-digit lead to remain winless. Last week it was 15 points to the Broncos. This week it was the Giants overcoming an 11-point first-half deficit. To Sparano's credit, he wasn't putting any blame on his players.

"You guys can write this whatever way you want to write it, OK? But that group in that locker room has got a lot of guts and a lot of courage," Sparano said. "You write it whatever the way you want to write it, but that's the fact."

Here's another: The situation has gotten so sad for Sparano that even the opposing coach who just beat him felt compelled to stand up for him.

"I think Tony Sparano is a heck of a coach," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "He got his guys ready to play under very difficult circumstances. Imagine being up 15-0 and losing a game, and having to come in here the next week. I give them a lot of credit. He was on my staff in Jacksonville, and he did a great job."

That's not the case this season in Miami. How much longer can this possibly go on?
