Rams right tackle Jason Smith and backup defensive tackle Darell Scott were expected to fly back to St. Louis with the team after they were taken to the hospital because of head injuries sustained during the first half of a 34-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The team announced that tests on both players showed no major damage.
Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said Smith, who was kicked in the head during the first quarter, was diagnosed with a strained neck after undergoing an MRI exam and a CT scan at a Dallas
hospital. Scott was also taken to the hospital and was evaluated after a blow to the head just before halftime.Â
Smith was immobilized on a stretcher and his facemask removed before he was placed on a cart and taken off the field. He moved his hands, however, as he left the field.
Scott also left the field on a cart late during the second quarter after a collision on kickoff coverage. Scott appeared to take a shot to the front of his helmet and spent several minutes down on the field as he was attended to by team medical personnel. He eventually made his way to his feet, but took a seat on the back of a cart as he was taken to the locker room.
Linebacker Brady Poppinga also left the game with a strained left calf.
