With all the attention he's receiving from NFL scouts, it's hard to imagine Andrew Luck alone in his dorm room singing Cheap Trick with tears in his eyes.
If Luck wants somebody to want him, there's no need to worry. He now has the attention of one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
The Denver Post reported Sunday that John Elway, now the Broncos' vice president of football operations, was on hand Saturday to watch Stanford's dominant 48-7 victory over Colorado. And he wasn't simply there as an alum supporting his Cardinal, according to the newspaper. He was in Boulder specifically to get an up-close look at Luck's fine work, although Elway won't admit it.
"I can't talk about Andrew Luck," Elway said before the Broncos' Sunday game against the San Diego Chargers. "I can't talk about any college player."
Elway doesn't have to say a thing. Chances are, after watching Luck complete 78 percent of his passes (26 of 33) for 370 yards and three touchdowns, Elway had a dream last night about the presumed 2012 No. 1 overall draft pick in orange and navy.
The natural question to ask: What does this mean for Tim Tebow's future if Elway is out scouting other college quarterbacks? Then again, that could be reading too much into it. Luck, after all, isn't just any college quarterback. Plus, he goes to Stanford, so it seems natural for Elway to be interested.
This can't be that big of a deal. Can it?
