Tebow on field for one play as Packers rout Broncos

Denver coach John Fox headed into to the Broncos' 49-23 loss to Green Bay intending to find a way to work quarterback Tim Tebow into his gameplan for the Packers.

Fox just barely accomplished that goal Sunday as Tebow did see the field, however, for one poorly executed play.

On first-and-10 from the their own 27 on the Broncos' second possession of the game, Tebow bobbled a shotgun snap, ran off left guard and was crunched for a 1-yard loss. Tebow returned to the sidelines following the play and was never reinserted into the game, despite the lopsided final score and the clamor from fans at Lambeau Field for more Tebow.

The Denver Post reported a number of factors contributed in the decision to keep Tebow on the bench -- the Broncos' early 21-3 deficit and the need to match Aaron Rodgers' aerial attack -- but Fox said the failure of Tebow's one play also fueled the decision.

"That, and we did it once and we lost yardage," Fox told the Post. "That wasn't all on him by any stretch, but it didn't prove to be beneficial, so we went in a different direction."

Tebow said that the way the game developed required the team to go with Orton.

"The situation there was we got behind and really had to put it in the air," he said, "so there really wasn't an opportunity."
