Cardinals' Wells hopes hamstring is healthy enough for Giants

Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells expects to play Sunday against the New York Giants after sitting out last week's loss at Seattle with a hamstring injury, according to the team's official website.

Wells was limited in practice, but coach Ken Whisenhunttold the Arizona Republic that if he doesn't have any setbacks this week, "hopefully he'll be OK for the game.

"The thing that you balance is you don't want to lose him for an extended period of time. The reason he didn't play last week was so he would be able to play this week. That's our plan. Hopefully, it pans out."

Before sitting out last Sunday's game in Seattle, Wells was off to the best start of his career, rushing for 183 yards in two games and averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

Notes:Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald told the Arizona Republic he'll be looking for payback against Giants safety Antrel Rolle, a former Cardinals teammate, for a play in college when Rolle broke Fitzgerald's nose. "I was a freshman in college playing against Miami -- and he didn't mean to do it -- but he came and tackled me and I had this same facemask. He got his fist in it and busted my nose. It was leaking all down my shirt. So it's always been a running joke the last 10 years. 'If I play against you, I'm going to bust your nose back.' So I'm going to try to get him."
