Kenny Britt didn't return to Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos after suffering a right knee injury during the second quarter, and it appears to be a worst-case-scenario for the Tennessee Titans.
A league source told NFL Network's Albert Breer that the Titans believe Britt tore the medial collateral ligament in the knee, and possibly the anterior cruciate ligament. The prognosis on the wide receiver was "not good," according to the source, and Britt will undergo an MRI exam Monday.
Britt suffered the injury at the end of a short reception near the sideline. His right knee appeared to buckle as he stepped toward the sideline, and it gave way on his next step as he fell to the ground and fumbled the ball. The third-year receiver laid on the ground for a few minutes before being helped to the sideline. He limped heavily, barely able to touch his right foot to the ground. He later was carted off the sideline and didn't return.
Britt limped out of the stadium Sunday wearing a brace over his right knee, saying only, "My status is limping."
Titans coach Mike Munchak wouldn't speculate on the severity of the injury but said Britt would undergo tests Sunday night or Monday.
"Obviously, it didn't look good when he got hurt," he said. "We might as well wait for tomorrow to find out for sure."
The Titans never ruled Britt out of the game, which they won 17-14, after initially listing him as questionable to return.
The Titans turned to Damien Williams and Lavelle Hawkins in place of Britt, who had three receptions for 18 yards before leaving the game. He entered the game leading the AFC with 271 receiving yards.
