Chargers' Floyd on the mend; Cooper out with torn biceps

SAN DIEGO -- Chargers coach Norv Turner said Monday that inside linebacker Stephen Cooper suffered a torn biceps muscle in Sunday night's 20-7 preseason victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The *San Diego Union-Tribune* reported that Cooper will have surgery and will be placed on injured reserve, meaning the nine-year veteran likely will be lost for the season.

Meanwhile, Chargers wide receiver Malcolm Floyd is on the mend after leaving Sunday night's game with a concussion, *the Union-Tribune* reported.

Turner told the newspaper that Floyd was "doing extremely well. He cleared up."

Turner added that the team would "be careful" with Floyd this week.

Wide receiver Patrick Crayton has bone spurs in an ankle and will have arthroscopic surgery, according to Turner. He's expected to be out 10 days to two weeks.

Floyd was injured during the second quarter on an 18-yard reception from backup quarterback Billy Volek. Floyd was hit on the play by Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh, his head slamming to the turf. It was his only catch of the game.

Floyd, a seven-year veteran, totaled 37 catches for 717 yards and six touchdowns last season.
